The Rowe Wedding in Hendersonville, NC

Last November, I had the pleasure to photograph Emily and Allen's wedding in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Emily and I went to high school together, and it was so fun for me to be able to have a behind-the-scenes view of her wedding day.

Emily and Allen are a sweet, fun couple. They were low-key and calm, but so obviously excited that their big day had finally come. I loved being able to see the day through my camera lens, and then re-live it as I went back through the wedding pictures. There were so many sweet looks and moments that I hadn't noticed in the hustle of the day.

I ran into the Rowes at a birthday party a few weekends ago, and it was so nice to see them. Emily and Allen, married life suits you so well! Congratulations!

The McCracken Wedding in Waynesville, NC

Amy and Justin have a special wedding story. Justin is in the military and has been living in Okinawa, Japan, for the past year. He and Amy were married while he was home on leave, and shortly after their beautiful wedding, the two of them headed back to Japan to make a life together.

It was wonderful to be a part of their wedding celebration. The wedding was held at the church where Justin's parents got married, and every guest there seemed genuinely thrilled for Justin and Amy. The reception followed at Wells Reception Hall in Waynesville, NC, and it was awesome! I didn't realize until I got there that most of the music was being provided by a truly amazing Mariachi band. The music made for such a fun and festive vibe! And let me tell you, folks, one of the coolest things I've ever heard was Rocky Top as played by a Mariachi band.

Even though the wedding and the reception were wonderful to witness, the best part of my day was watching Justin and Amy together. They both eased up and instantly became more relaxed in each other's presence. That's a beautiful thing to see.

Congratulations on your marriage, Justin and Amy, and may the rest of your adventures be as beautiful as your wedding day!

Christa and Jacob's Fall Engagement Pictures in Hendersonville, NC

All of my clients are special to me, but Christa and Jacob are one of my favorite couples in the whole world. Christa is Jeff's cousin, and I've watched her grow up since she was in elementary school. She and Jacob have been together for nearly seven years now, so I'm pretty well-acquainted with him, too. Christa is sweet and caring, and Jacob is a perfect Southern gentleman. (He let me wear his nice, warm camouflage jacket when I showed up ill-prepared to our session on Saturday, if that tells you anything!)

I'm so excited about their wedding next October. Christa and her mom are so crafty, as you can tell from all the props they made and brought along for our session, and I know their wedding is going to be simply beautiful.

Congratulations on your engagement, guys, and thanks for letting me be there to capture some of the memories!

Josh and Sarah's September Wedding

I first started talking with Josh and Sarah about their wedding over the winter. We shot their engagement pictures at the end of March, and September felt so far away! But the summer passed quickly, and last weekend their wedding day finally arrived.

They were married at Camp Hope in Canton, North Carolina. It's a beautiful, rustic venue, and I was so excited when I first saw it. I knew that their wedding was going to be beautiful.

And it was. I know we all watched the weather like hawks for the week leading up to the big day, and I, for one, had resigned myself to a rainy Saturday. But instead, the weather was perfectly cool, a bit cloudy, and nice and dry.

Their wedding was sweet, meaningful, and perfect. Their happiness was contagious, and I enjoyed seeing how joyful both they and their guests were as they were announced as husband and wife.

Congratulations, Josh and Sarah! Thank you for letting me be part of your special day.

Carlie's Senior Pictures at the NC Arboretum

I've known Carlie since she was a small, small girl. I've seen her grow up from a distance, but I don't think I've ever gotten to spend as much time with her as I did last Saturday when we were taking her senior pictures. As I suspected, she's lovely, and hanging out with her and her mom was an awfully pleasant way to spend a Saturday evening.

Carlie and her mom chose the location, and I think the outdoor setting of the North Carolina Arboretum perfectly reflected her love of the outdoors. Any girl who wears her Chacos for her senior pictures is a girl who's ready to go on a hike! I loved her outfit choices and her casual attitude--she made it so fun to experiment with poses and locations.

Thanks for letting me take your pictures, Carlie! I can't wait to see what the next few years hold for you.
